In Texas the tax values come out in mid-April.

If an owner feels the value is too high they must protest by May 15th.

If you reside in the house you should also file a "Homestead Exemption."

This instantly saves you money & puts a 10% yearly cap on the amount your value can go up.

If protesting the tax value sounds daunting, you can hire a company to do it for you.

They will normally charge you 30% to 50% of the money they save you. They may have other fees as well.

I personally like to use a company that only charges 25%, no other fees, and you pay only if they save you money.
